A Colorado bakeshop saw its Yelp page flooded with negative reviews on Monday after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the owner had the right to turn away gay couples.
Jack Phillips, a self-proclaimed “cake artist” and owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, first got into legal trouble in 2012 after he refused to custom-make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, saying it was against his religious beliefs.
The court’s narrow ruling on Monday sided with Phillips’ right to express his religious objections. But that didn’t stop Yelp reviewers from exercising free speech rights of their own.
